Myoma Kyoung

No(2) Basic Education High School, Dagon. This is one of the popular and high students population BEHS from City Yangon, the capital of Yangon Division. It was formerly known as Myoma National Boy's High School. In the 1920s national schools were opened across Myanmar with the purpose of implementing the national education objectives. Myoma national schools were born out of the national freedom struggle together with national education and national spirit. Of them all, this school was the first-born Myoma National School. The foundation of this school began in 1920. The school was under construction from 25.11.1929 ( the 10th waning day of Tasaungmone,1291 Myanmar Era ) until 4.12.1931 (the 10th waning day of Tasaungmone,1293 Myanmar Era ). Only with the strong effort of U Ba Lwin, the first headmaster of the Myoma National School and the parents' donation, could the school be successfully completed. Formerly, it was not a government school. It was nationalized on the 1st of April, 1965 and became a State High School and later became known as, at present, No.2 Basic Education High School, Dagon. Our school gained recognition in the course of Myanmar history and Myanmar education sector.

[edit] Library

  NATURE OF THE LIBRARY

The library of this school is situated on the third floor of the main building. It is specially a quiet and silent place as it is in a private area which is separated from the classrooms. It is most likely a retangular area which is pretty large for a library. The special thing of this library is that there are no windows and instead of windows there are 3 doors on each side of the library so, there are altogether six. All the doors have two folds and they are mostly always opened. So, it is always cool and airy, even in summer, and we can get fresh air always. Although at times when the electricity is cut, it is bright in the library with natural light.

  BOOKS

There are about 5,000 various books which are tidily placed in shelves in the library. They include both myanmar and english comics, novels, science, biographies, historical novels, fictions, non-fictions, kids stories, mysteries and much more. There are also many desks and chairs made of fine wood beside the shelves in the library. So, we can read the books there during our breaks or borrow them using our library cards. The person in charge of the library is teacher Daw. Phyu Phyu Win who is the burmese teacher for matric students and who is a very friendly and wise teacher.

  LIBRARY CLUB

There is also a hobby club concerning reading which is known as the library book club. Students who are very interested in reading can join this club and there are also activities for this club. You can donate books to the library if you would like to help out your school library in a way you could afford. You can also participate in producing the yearly "Myoma Magazine" if you would like to.

  MYOMA MAGAZINE

Myoma Magazine is a special school magazine which is produced once a year. It includes the novels, poems, cartoons, drawings, essays, english learnings and many many more which are written only by Dagon 2 school teachers and mostly students. It also include photos of the teachers and students participating in various activites. Students who have a wish to help out in the school magazine can inform the teacher in charge and can give her your piece of work, a novel, a personal experience, a cartoon, a drawing, a poem which you have created yourself and it will be in the coming year's magazine with your name as the author. So, the school's magazine somehow represents the unity of the school as it is created by the collection of many pieces of students works.
